Who are We?

Perspectives isn’t just a program. It’s a lifeline for students with autism and other developmental diagnoses to learn the social and life skills that so many of us take for granted. It’s also more than just the lessons we teach. We’re a community built on understanding, empathy and growth, a place where adolescents and young adults discover that they matter, belong, and deserve the same opportunities for meaningful connections as everyone else

“Life skills and the STRW program have been a perfect opportunity for our son George – 15 yrs old to progress on his journey towards independence and experiencing community building with peers. The life skills team are all fully supportive and encouraging with plenty of flexibility thrown in for good measure. These things combined help us as parents to be on the top of our game with our kid’s development. This program came at the perfect time for our son to build also with his school life skills teachings. It allows flexibility with goal setting and ideas to help kids towards individualized focused independence. This program definitely works as we are working the program. George is so excited to go every week he is jumping up and down to share! Showering to cooking to cleaning these skills are so important to progress to become daily habits so that our kids can be in charge of themselves to the best of their ability safely. That Perpectives exists in NKY feels like an utter miracle. My daughter’s been going since November when they opened. She loves it. Has events to look forward to. She’s met new friends. She’s even tried new foods – and yoga! So many kids with developmental differences make it through high school, and then it’s like, OK, what now? Veg in the basement at home? Video games, much? Chronically on YouTube? There are new things to learn, weird stuff to try, and cool people to meet! Connection, belonging, and community is available, and it makes all the difference. The staff at Perspectives is extremely dedicated, in tune, and constantly working to welcome teens and young adults to “find their tribe”and have a cool place to be themselves, grow, and discover friends they might never meet otherwise. Perspectives is Northern Kentucky’s newest center dedicated to supporting teens and young adults (ages 11 and up) with developmental differences—including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Intellectual Disabilities—as they prepare for life beyond school. Through evidence-based programs, social opportunities, and life skills training, we create a safe, inclusive environment where individuals can build independence, form friendships, and thrive within their home, community and in the workforce.
VISION STATEMENT
Perspectives: Skills for Life envisions a future where all teens and young adults with autism and developmental differences are valued, connected, and empowered to lead fulfilling lives. We strive to be a model of inclusive innovation—bridging communities, families, and opportunities—so that every individual can contribute to the world around them with confidence and dignity.

Our Programs

Looking for assistance on payments, we qualify for most FSA and HSA and we collaborate with the Kentucky Center Pre-Employment Transition Services, for qualifying individuals

Core Focus

At Perspectives, we empower individuals with autism and other developmental differences. Our focus is on independence, vocational readiness, and real-world learning to help participants gain the confidence and tools needed to thrive in everyday life and future employment.

PEERS®

The PEERS® Program: This research-based social skills training program is designed to help individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities build meaningful friendships, improve social interactions, and navigate complex social situations.

STRW

Surviving and Thriving in the Real World (STRW) is an intervention that was developed for autistic teens that targets the development of age-appropriate daily living skills including hygiene and self-care, cleaning, laundry, cooking, grocery shopping, and money management.
